challenge #5

YAY!! I picked up my laptop today, so finally I have access to my scrapbooking blogs, forums, galleries, etc..That was a rough few weeks:)
for the american idol challenge going on at www.scrap-tastic.com I made this layout yesterday for challenge #5...We had to choose a song, and create the layout to showcase that era, along with some hand stitching, and an element that was chosen from the song lyrics.
Because yesterday was the 14th year anniversary since my Mom passed away, I wanted to dedicate a layout to her.
I chose the song "Bridge over troubled water" by Simon & Garfunkel(1970) because it was played at my Mom's funeral, so everytime I hear the song i think of her.
To go with the 70's theme, I used paint and a brayer, to make the paint look like tie dye on the cardstock.
while the paint was still wet, i scratched peace signs all over(using the end of a paintbrush)
i also hand stitched a larger peace sign.
supplies used:
cardstock:Bazzill
paint: Making Memories
shimmer mist: Tattered angels
letter stickers: Scenic route, making memories, basic grey & american crafts
mushroom stamps:Close to my heart
ink:stampin up & tim holtz
flower:Prima
chipboard:Bazzill
ribbon:Doodlebug
transparency:Hambly
brayer:stampin up

computer update

Just to fill everyone in on whats going on with my computer,......I took in into a shop over the weekend, and while the first few scans worked well, they hit a dead end with it...They said with as old as what My computer was it just isnt worth it to put hundreds of dollars into fixing it, when for not much more I can get a new one.
So, while they are trying to locate an affordable replacement for me, I will have very sporadic access to the internet and a computer(basically the rare time Rob is around)

Twilight mini album

Well, I will be the first to admit that I have jumped into this Twilight craze...I love Twilight..especially Edward Cullen:)
I received a blank acrylic stadium album from Jessica at www.kits2remember.com and after counting the pictures, found out that it worked out well for the amount of pictures I have of the Twilight characters.
I kept the inside of the album simple, to keep the emphasis on the picture and information.
Each page includes a picture of a character, along with information about that character.....name, date of birth, date of transformation into a vampire, special abilities, and who they are a couple with.
This is just something to help me count down the days until Twilight is released to Dvd....which for the record is only 5 and a half days away:)

Virus

Just giving you an update as to why I have been "neglecting" my blog, messageboards, galleries, etc.....I often download music online(and had never had a problem doing so) until I tried downloading a Miley Cyrus song. The file looked wonky to me, but against my better judgement I went through with attempting to download it..,well lets just say I now have a trojan virus on my computer..So I cant add pics to blog posts, I cant log in to forums or galleries, and although for some reason I can still get into facebook, I cant view any pictures....grrrrrr!!! After attempting to fix it ourselves, it looks as though it will be heading to the shop this weekend.
Dont worry though...Ive still been working on many scrapping projects

few more recent creations

So, this is why I havent been the greatest blog..been up to my elbows in paper and scrapping goodies...crafting up a storm:)

Good luck

After having crummy luck for the last while, I seemed to have a winning streak this weekend.
I won this prize pack through the hourly draws at Emma's Paperie blog.
I also won a Helmar Adhesive prize pack for winning bingo at Dixie Pieces(Thanks Marci)

winning layout

I just found out today that this layout won in Coordinates Collections "un-valentines contest"
the challenge was to create a layout about something you dont love, and you couldnt include the colour red. So, after finding this horrible picture of my butt that Rob took in the summer, I knew it would be fun for this challenge.
I even won a prize with this..That made my day!!!

Projects from the weekend

I had fun this weekend participating in Dixie Pieces online crop..Here is what i accomplished on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.
