challenge #5

YAY!! I picked up my laptop today, so finally I have access to my scrapbooking blogs, forums, galleries, etc..That was a rough few weeks:)
for the american idol challenge going on at www.scrap-tastic.com I made this layout yesterday for challenge #5...We had to choose a song, and create the layout to showcase that era, along with some hand stitching, and an element that was chosen from the song lyrics.
Because yesterday was the 14th year anniversary since my Mom passed away, I wanted to dedicate a layout to her.
I chose the song "Bridge over troubled water" by Simon & Garfunkel(1970) because it was played at my Mom's funeral, so everytime I hear the song i think of her.
To go with the 70's theme, I used paint and a brayer, to make the paint look like tie dye on the cardstock.
while the paint was still wet, i scratched peace signs all over(using the end of a paintbrush)
i also hand stitched a larger peace sign.
supplies used:
cardstock:Bazzill
paint: Making Memories
shimmer mist: Tattered angels
letter stickers: Scenic route, making memories, basic grey & american crafts
mushroom stamps:Close to my heart
ink:stampin up & tim holtz
flower:Prima
chipboard:Bazzill
ribbon:Doodlebug
transparency:Hambly
brayer:stampin up

This is just fabulous Trace - I know how you feel...my grandfather died in 2003 and he loved Randy Travis. I feel the same way as you do whenever I hear one of his songs.
