double page layout

For the final challenge at Scrap-tastic, the remaining 10 contestants were asked to create a double page layout using masks, and changing lyrics to a song.
This was the most difficult challenge for me because I had never created a 2 page layout before.
I decided to create a silly layout about Memphis' bad habit of trying to drink toilet water, so I changed the lyrics from Beyonces song "single ladies" to be about Memphis and her bad habit.
For masking, I used gaffer tape, letter stickers and a chipboard piece from a kids game, along with paint, spray paint, Maya Mist.
Eliminating 9 people in this final round, I knew the odds were against me(and I didnt win) but the competition was terrific, and the AI winner did a great job!!!!

flood pics

On Saturday, I went with some girl friends into the city for a scrapbooking crop(fundraiser for MS) and this was some of the water that we encountered on the way in....We were fortunate to have taken a truck in, and that we could still make it into the city. Its amazing and also a little freaky to see so much water, where it shouldnt be.

Easter

First I just have to mention that my laptop is driving me crazy(for some reason it will not let me rotate pictures so they are actually placed the way they should be)
Anyways, how was your Easter? Ours was really good(it just flew by way too fast)
We had a supper gathering at My Dads on Friday, then saturday took Si to see the new Hannah Montana movie, followed by a Fehr gathering on Sunday.
The Easter bunny was real good to Si again..He left hime some Dvds, a new backpack, and some other small things.

NKOTB

Last week Thurssday, I went with a few of my good friends to the New kids concert, and lets just say it started the new kids craze over with me all over again.
We had pretty decent seats, he guys didnt look as though they had aged at all, their old songs still sounded great, and their new music is amazing.
It was so nostalgic, that I even had tears in my eyes at one point.
New kids is the first concert that My Mom took me to(19 years ago)
We went with my friend Hollie and her mom.
During the song"tonight" I felt as though my Mom was right there with me..i loved it!!!!
p.s. I can't take credit for the pics...Hollie took them;

my Stamp BOX April creations

Yesterday was my turn to post on the my Stamp BOX blog, so because I dont create cards near as often as I do layouts, or mini albums, i thought it was time to challenge myself again.
Right now I am all about kraft cardstock with dictionary paper;
To see the other 3 cards in my blog post go to www.mystampbox.com/blog
Honestly that has got to be the best blog to go to for inspiration, because between the design team, there is someone posting on there every day of the week..and this team has got a LOT of talent!!!

For my blurb in this blog hop, I am going to show you the look of different brand named inks when used with my Stamp Box stamps.
For layout #1
"mini smurf in training''
I used my Stamp BOX ''lots of dots'' and ''she says-he says'' stamps
along with doodlebug design inc(blue) and Ranger adironack(black)
Honestly, these 2 inks are my absolute favourites to use with acrylic stamps, because you get good coverage, they are easy to clean(wont stain the stamps) and they are nice and dark.
Layout #2 ''Grateful''
I used my Stamp BOX "splash me a little" and "funky flowers" along with Tim Holtz distress ink and KI Memories(envy) and Tsukineko's glue pad(with doodlebug glitter)
I LOVE using Tim Holtz ink with these stamps(another favourite) but to be honest, Im not a huge fan of the KI Memories ink(i find they show up too light with acrylic) and the glue pad stresses me out..lol I NEVER get total coverage with it.
For my florida mini album, I used my Stamp BOX "she says-he says" with Tsukinenko versamagic(cloud white) and have always been happy using this ink pad with acrylic stamps.
I also have good luck with Stampin' up inks and Staz on(although they stain my stamps)
The only other ink pad Im not a huge fan of is Autumn Leaves made especially for acrylic stamps.
Thanks for stopping by my blog..Don\t forget to leave a comment on here, before heading to Ally's blog at www.yourmemoriescanada.blogspot.com
Best of luck

See you tonight

Recent layouts

This past weekend I went with some friends to the scrapbooking convention in Brandon, and while I didnt accomplish as much as I had planned, i still had a great time.
I taught a class for Rhubarb Roots on Saturday night, attended 2 classes, etc.
Apparently they were able to raise over $12,000 for different charities, and this event was featured in Brandon's paper on Sunday.
Here are some of the layouts I worked on over the weekend

American idol challenge #6

Well, today I find out if Im moving onto challenge #7 in the competition at Scrap-tastic.
Here is the layout, I created for challenge #6. The challenge was all about design principles..and I struggled with this one, because I never take the design principles in mind while creating a layout..I just like to have fun with my pages...but I really enjoyed creaing this layout..another excuse to get my hands messy.

Memory album

With losing my Mom at an early age, it really makes me aware of death. I often worry about something happening to me, and missing out on being a part of si' life.
I made him a mini album..the pages are envelopes(10 of them) and inside each envelope is a letter to him from me, on various topics.
I plan on giving this to him when he graduates from high school, as a little keepsake because I think this is something that he can always treasure.
I kept the design and embellishments very minimal.
supplies used:
mini album: 7 gypsies
patterned paper:October Afternoon
stamps:my Stamp BOX
punches: EK Success, Fiskars & Martha Stewart
alphas: Papermania, scenic route

fun:coming soon
