Crazy Daisy mini album

My favourite thing about the Crazy Daisy kits is that they have a mini album in each kit.
In the June kit they featured this felt mini album that is exclusive to them. The colours and design on the front inspired me to use a lot of paint and faux stitching on the inside pages.
I used this mini album to be about my family and what I like about them.

Everything with the exception of the games and some smaller challenges will be posted on Monday of each week starting June 29th, and ending July 31st, 2009.4. A winner will be picked on August 1st, by myself and the current design team based on the number of points earned throughout the challenge.5. Each challenge, game, contest, etc. will have a time frame (most scrapping challenges will run the length of a week) in which they have to be completed to receive full points.6. For the scrapping (or more lengthy challenges), you will be given the opportunity to submit your challenges AFTER the due date, but you will receive less points.7. There will be a section on the message board where you will need to sign up if you wish to participate. You can sign up at any time during the contest. This sign up section should be the only place to post your links to the scrapping challenges in order to receive your points.8. We have a Flickr group were all pictures need to be uploaded, also All challenge creations MUST be linked in the message board. If this is new to you, please don't worry.........we will have lots of people on hand to help you load up images on the group and link them to the reserved space (this can be somewhat overwhelming if you are new to the world of scrapbooking boards and galleries---but rest assured, we'll help you through it!)9. Each challenge, depending on its complexity, will have a number of points awarded to it and each person that completes the challenge will receive the said points as long as they link their creation to their space.10. Each game etc. will have points awarded as per the post details (different points for different games).11. You can keep track of all the challenges/games etc. through the master LIST OF CHALLENGES posted under the Design Team Contest section.12. There will be random challenges, hot topics, games etc. where you can earn extra points. These will be posted throughout the contest duration with little or no warning, so be prepared for some random fun!15. Shimmerz

Last week I participated in a blog hop for Shimmerz and their 1st birthday celebration, and one of my scrap "crushes" Jeni Boisvert who happens to be a DT member for them posted an additonal RAK on her blog.
I found out today I won me some delicious Shimmerz products!!! Woohoo!!! I think I could have a lot of fun if I pair it up with my Stamp BOX stamps..Together, I could do some damage:)
Thanks Jeni!!!! and If you want to check out her blog, and trust me you will want to! Her style is incredible.
Her blog is http://paperpiecing.typepad.com/paperpassion/

a few more 'my Stamp BOX' creations

I feel so lucky to be able to play with my Stamp BOX stamps every month. Not only is Bettina organized and super easy to work with, my fellow dt'ers rock and provide me with inspiration daily, but the stamps are just SOOOO AWESOME!!!!!!! "Happy birthday" I used the 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY' set for the flowers and title.
For the flowers, i stamped them on cardstock, trimmed the images out and adhered to the card.
"happy 4th birthday" I worked with the 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY' set, and adhered 4 stamped birthday cakes to 4 of the patterned paper squares.

"hello to you"
I sed the COLORFUL COMPANIONS set so that I could use pretty much the same design as the happy 4th birthday card, but rather then cakes, I stamped butterflies to make this card ready for any occasion.

"sending all my love"
I worked with 2 stamp sets OVAL OFFICE & SHE SAYS-HE SAYS
Those are 2 stamps sets that I find myself using over and over...I really dont think I will tire of either..EVER:)

"killer dog"
I used 2 different alpha stamps 'SPLASH ME A LITTLE!' & 'LETTERBOXES'
If you have never worked with my Stamp BOX stamps, go pick some up. It is a great little Canadian company..the prices are very very affordable, they are good quality stamps, and I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

some recent cards

"Thanks for everything" is the card that I made for my Dad for Fathers Day.
I went with a thanks theme rather then a Fathers day theme because I wanted to thank him for everything he has done that makes him such an amazing father.
"love" I adhered buttons into the shape of a heart, and from there added my title over the buttons.

"Happy Valentines day"
I submitted this to a magazine but had no luck with it, so thought I could show it on here now.
I held a lighter next to old crayon pieces over the acrylic owl(Clear Scraps) to get the pink and purple design on the owl.

a few more recent creations

"dream" I made the flower by cutting circles out of scrap tissue paper, and adhering them together with a brad. From there I sprayed it with Maya Mist & fluffed out the sides for added dimension.
I also tore the layers apart on the dream napkin, and mod podged one layer to the cardstock, so that you could see the old sheet music I had adhered underneath the napkin.
I have had this frame laying around the house for a year or two, and deiced it was time to finally put some pictures in, and alter it to suit our house/family.

"smile" I added a lot of hand cut elements to the layout.

"determination"
I dry brushed some green paint onto the black cardstock, and then adhered the transparency over the paint, so it would be more noticeable on the layout.

latest projects

Here are a few of my latest layouts that I created for me(not for DT assignments): "dance like there's no tomorrow"
This was my first time working with the Heidi Swapp invisibles and WOW!! It is so cool!!! Using circular motions I blended in 2 different colours of Tim Holtz distress ink, working my way from the outside of the page, into the center of it.
"lucky" I used a piece of the invisibles paper from Heidi Swapp(which I am now very addicted to) and added 2 different colours of Tim Holtz distress inks. I topped it off with a few strips of patterned paper and fabric.
I made the flowers from small circles I punched out from an old dictionary.
"cupcake delight" I worked with a 6x8 picture, and because I used a busy background paper, and busy patterned papers, I kept the design rather simple.

"colours" I made the flowers using random ribbon strips, and a rainbow using my stask of buttons.

"be you"
My inspiration piece for this layout was a magnet from the VERY talented artist(who happens to be from Winnipeg) Kal Barteski.
I took pictures of myself, my son and dh that Si drew and put them in the order that we are standing in the picture.

Gift certificate

One of the local photographers is holding a baby contest next month, so with running a daycare from home I decided to donate a free day of childcare to the winner.
I wanted to make the certificate in a way that would reflect my style, so I made the card out of a paper bag, and the actual gift certificate on a tag that I could tuck into the pocket of the bag.
I used stamps from FUNKY FLOWERS, www.mystampbox.com to create the fun design on the cover of the card.

my Stamp BOX

On Monday it was my turn to post on the blog www.mystampbox.com/blog and I discussed stamping on a transparency.
Basically, if you buy a plain transparency from an office supply store, some ink and stamps you can create your own unique version of Hambly transparencies..for alot less of the cost.
To see more of my blog entry(and a card I made) go check out the blog!!
p.s. Fellow dt'er Tracey just posted a very creative way to make a card out of an acrylic album.

Card up at Crazy Daisy kits

My card using the Crazy daisy June kit was posted on their blog www.crazydaisykits.com/blog
Have you checked out their blog lately? Lots of inspiration coming from all of the talented ladies there, and a challenge was posted too!
I made this card using scraps leftover from the June kit(after 5 layouts, and a mini album) to still have scraps left is incredible..gives you an idea of how huge the kit was)

a layout for the weekend

Because I probably wont be updating my blog over the weekend, I thought I should leave you with a new layout I created using the June kit at www.crazydaisykits.com
I used Maya mist to spray onto the cardstock before adding the paper and picture.
I wanted to have a lot of white space on the layout, so I kept the majority of the design on the center of the page, while adding a little something extra:) to the top right hand side.
This layout along with one of Grace Tolman's was featured on the blog today..go check it out.. www.crazydaisykits.com/blog/
Hurry before these kits sell out!!
Next week, I will show you what I did using the AWESOME felt mini album that comes with the June kit
